Author says the two apocalyptic beasts from Revelation are now front and center
“Approaching Armageddon” online study now available for individuals and groups
or Immediate Release (Priest River, ID) — Author and theologian Steve Wohlberg has created an online study based on his new book “Approaching Armageddon: Discover Hope Beyond Earth’s Final Battle.” The e-course is an eleven-week study featuring weekly video lessons, live Q&A sessions, and a workbook to coincide with the book. Wohlberg says this study will help people discern biblical signs now being fulfilled around the world.
“This is a hopeful eschatology, not a report of doom and gloom,” says Wohlberg. “This e-course will empower people to connect to God’s heart and will equip them with the mighty truths of His Word so they can bring hope to a hurting and chaotic world.”
Wohlberg has studied eschatology for over 40 years, and one of his particular areas of study has been the identity of the two great beasts described in the book of Revelation, chapter 13. Wohlberg believes that the lamblike beast represents the United States of America. He also sees the Vatican as a major power player in the end times.
“If you carefully research the prophetic views of Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Matthew Henry, and countless other Protestants, you will discover that they all believed that the first beast in Revelation 13 is a symbol of Papal Rome,” says Wohlberg. “Scripture says that this beast sits on the ‘seat’ of the ancient Roman empire in the City of Rome, has a ‘mouth speaking great things,’ makes ‘war with the saints’ and is granted ‘authority over every tribe, tongue, and nation.’ This interpretation is not meant to be an assault on godly Roman Catholic people but is based on a careful study of prophecy and European history. It is no secret that the structure of the Vatican is a church/state union—a church that rules the state. In the Roman Catholic system of government, no church/state separation exits.”
Wohlberg says the recent appointment to the Supreme Court shows Bible prophecy is on full display.
“I watched with deep interest the recent senate confirmation hearings of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, a devout Roman Catholic,” says Wohlberg. “I was also pleased when Judge Barrett clarified that she is willing to put her personal Catholic religion aside in her commitment to the United States Constitution. This is wholly proper. Would Pope Francis agree with that? Based on my knowledge of history and of prophecy, I am certain that this Roman Catholic Pope, who is the absolute sovereign of the Vatican City State would never agree to this American principle. He can’t for he is a Pope, and no Pope believes in the U.S. principle of the separation of church and state.”
By contrast, in his recent article “7 Reasons America is Pinpointed in Bible Prophecy” published by Charisma, Wohlberg contends that the lamblike beast of Revelation 13:11 represents the United States. This beast has “two horns like a lamb,” which Wohlberg believes symbolizes civil and religious freedom.
“The primary Lamb is Jesus Christ,” says Wohlberg, “and it is stunning to realize that American freedoms are historically rooted in His teaching in Matthew 22, ‘Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.’ Religious freedom, the U.S. constitution, and the Bill of Rights outlining the proper spheres of government and religion are hallmarks of American democracy.”
In his “Approaching Armageddon” book and e-course, Wohlberg focuses on prophecies from Jesus about the end-times and outlines them point by point, showing not only how New Testament prophecies fall in line with Old Testament predictions, but also how an entire cluster of current events are rapidly fulfilling biblical predictions. The book discusses the biblical battle of Armageddon itself, including what it means, where it occurs, who is involved, and who will win.
“When the dust settles after all this chaos,” Wohlberg declares, “a fabulous future of hope and love awaits those who choose to be on God’s side.”
