Q&A with Peter Lalonde
Creator of “Bible Prophecy on Trial” website
Producer of “Left Behind” movies
How does Bible Prophecy on Trial work exactly?
Well basically, it’s simply a courtroom-style trial. The folks who join with me are given a seat in the jury box. They will see each piece of evidence and they will cast their votes on their phone or computer. At the end of each monthly hearing, they will get a summary of their voting and can compare it to how all the other jurors from across the globe voted. I’ll be providing backup materials and video blogs along the way, sharing the latest prophetic fulfilments as I see them. You know it’s funny that the prophecies suggest an exponential increase in knowledge in the last days and I believe we are seeing that. But I also think that the seals are being ripped off prophecies at an equally stunning pace—prophecies that we could never have understood before now. I view this as a master class in the latest prophetic fulfilment of 2023, but people aren’t just sitting in a classroom taking notes—they’re jurors in the trial of the century.
Bible Prophecy on Trial is a very unique way to teach people about scripture. What inspired the idea?
I think that for years we have listened to teachers and preachers, which is extraordinarily important, but sometimes it leaves us as simply spectators. We may write notes and intend to review them later, which we don’t always do. The idea of the trial is to engage people on the spot, in the moment, and even have them at the edge of their seats. If we can do that, they can then make their own decision. It’s not about what I believe, it’s what people as jurors believe and what verdict they reach on their own.
What types of prophecy are covered? Is it more end times focused or a mixture and how did you go about choosing the subjects?
I think one of the mistakes that we have made in the study of Bible prophecy is that we have focused on the last seven years known as the tribulation period. But that’s like going into a movie for the last five minutes. You see the bad guy getting chased down and “getting his” but you don’t know the backstory: Why is he running away? What did he do? In the book of Isaiah, God says I will tell you the story to the end from the beginning. As a filmmaker, it is my goal to tell the whole story from Lucifer’s fall to the second coming in the most visual way I possibly can. It’s fascinating and mind blowing – opening up Bible prophecy in a way we’ve never seen it before.
A Lifeway survey found that 9 in 10 pastors found at least some current events matching Jesus' description of the end times. Which events stand out to you?
For me, it is a vision recorded in Daniel 12:4. It is a vision of the end times, but the poor guy couldn’t understand a bit of it. Daniel is told to just shut the book and go his way because the prophecy is sealed until the end of the time. Turns out, I misunderstood the prophecy until just the last few years because the prophecy was still not unsealed. Why? The evidence I present shows it was not about our knowledge increasing, but instead it was about a cloud of data that hangs above our heads right now and knows each of us by our actions and knows us all by name. It’s about mankind’s attempt to rebuild the tower of Babel, resurrect the tree of knowledge and prepare for the final war against God. And no one is even hiding it.
What do you hope Christians will gain by being virtual jurors of Bible Prophecy on Trial? And likewise, non-Christians?
Frankly, I hope it puts people on the spot, spiritually speaking. I believe the evidence is overwhelming and if someone keeps voting yes to the evidence, it is going to provoke them to either encouragement or having to align their head with their heart.
Jesus said no man knows the hour, but do you have an inkling as a predicted time period when Jesus will return?
I mentioned the prophecy in the book of Daniel, but to give that a bit of context, chapters 10-12 of that book are about a vision of the time of Jacob’s trouble or the tribulation. Once again, the prophecy is about Israel. But right before this, Daniel is told there will come this great increase in knowledge. There’s been so many false teachers setting this date or that date for the rapture, but here we have specific prophecies about the tribulation. And the scripture specifically says this increase in knowledge must come first. In fact, one of the experts in the trial says it is “at scale,” meaning it is past the testing phase and fully operational right now. So, this system which had to come first is already present today. If Jesus didn’t know the day or the hour, I’m certainly not going to suggest I do. But He did tell us to watch. This is not the time to mess around.
