Gaither Music Group announces release of new Christmas CD with Reggie and Ladye Love Smith
New Christmas CD Features Original Song Co-written by 4-Time SESAC Songwriter of the Year
For Immediate Release (Nashville, TN) — Gaither Music Group has released a new Christmas recording entitled That Special Time Of Year from acclaimed vocalists and Gaither Homecoming favorites, Reggie & Ladye Love Smith. The title song is an original tune written by Reggie Smith and four-time SESAC Songwriter of the Year Regie Hamm who has 23 #1 radio hits to his credit. Hamm, who was also songwriting champion on the seventh season of American Idol, says the collaboration was an easy fit.
“Writing with Reggie has been a lot of fun,” says Hamm. “He has a great ear for a good melody, and we hope this new song becomes a welcome addition to holiday music playlists across many genres.”
“It was an absolute privilege to work with Regie Hamm,” says Smith. “I was simply amazed by how quickly he could turn a phrase and make a lyric become truly memorable. We hope this new song helps people celebrate the season of Christmas in a fresh, meaningful way.”
As the project’s producer, Reggie Smith also included medleys of some classic Christmas songs and made the CD a family affair by featuring a special appearance from Bill and Gloria Gaither’s granddaughter, Mia, as well as Reggie and Ladye’s son, Bret who is guest vocalist on an updated rendition of “Silent Night.” Gaither Vocal Band members Bill Gaither, Wes Hampton, Adam Crabb, and Todd Suttles contributed background vocals to the title song.
The husband-and-wife team will continue touring this Christmas season with the legendary Gaither Vocal Band, of which Reggie has been a member since 2017. The couple will also be featured on the Gospel Music Showcase television show on the Daystar Network as well as CCM Café, produced by CCM Magazine.
As a duo, the Smiths have performed in over 30 countries and in some of the most prestigious venues in the world including the Super Bowl, New York’s famed Carnegie Hall, and the Kremlin in Moscow. They have shared the stage with some of the most iconic artists in pop, country, and gospel music including Dolly Parton, George Jones, Lyle Lovett, Brenda Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Darius Rucker, Sandi Patty, Larnelle Harris, and Patti LaBelle, and many more.
